Lil’ Wayne does it - platinum in week one! Although I think the album is nothing short of awful, it is an amazing feat and easily the highest week one selling album of the last 3 years.
It seems that Lil’ Wayne has figured out the internet. Despite the album leak and literally millions of people having the album prior to its street date, the Louisiana rapper makes music retailers feel hopeful. Maybe its because he over-saturates the market.

According to famed Kiss bassist, Gene Simmons, fans are responsible for destroying the record industry.
“The record industry is dead,” Simmons said. “It’s six feet underground and unfortunately the fans have done this. They’ve decided to download and file-share.“
According to Digital Music News, Simmons further explained, “There is no record industry around so we’re going to wait until everybody settles down and becomes civilized.”

Super-producer Scott Storch is apparently facing a host of legal and financial issues, according to details surfacing this week. Storch is the inexhaustible creator of tracks for artists Juvenile, Fat Joe, Beyonce, Paris Hilton, Ludacris, Chris Brown, Daddy Yankee, Mariah Carey, and many others, a clientele that definitely affords very comfortable lifestyle.
But details stated in the Miami Herald say that Storch now owes more than half-a-million in property taxes on his $10.5 million Miami Beach home. Authorities have also issued a warrant for the arrest of Storch to force payment of various alimony obligations, specifically for two estranged sons from past relationships.

Despite the fact that rapper Lil’ Wayne’s album, “Tha Carter III” leaked out all over the internet almost 2 weeks ago, data from Nielsen Soundscan recorded more than 423,000 album sales ON THE DAY OF RELEASE this past Tuesday. That is almost as much as Usher’s latest album “Here I Stand” sold in its first week (433,000) and Mariah Carey’s “E=MC” sold in its first week (463,000).

In a recent but not so surprising news update, it seems that Warner Music Groups is not happy with the deal that the made with Last.fm. According to Digital Music News, Warner has removed its full-track, on-demand catalog from Last.fm. The reasons, of course, involve money.
