Noteworthy Lyrics: Chris Martin

Just because I’m losing
Doesn’t mean I’m lost
Doesn’t mean I’ll stop
Doesn’t mean I will cross

Just because I’m hurting
Doesn’t mean I’m hurt
Doesn’t mean I didn’t get what I deserve
No better and no worse

I just got lost
Every river that I’ve tried to cross
Every door I ever tried was locked
Ooh-Oh, And I’m just waiting till the shine wears off…

Lost!, Coldplay (2008)

Noteworthy Lyrics: Ben Watt

The future of the future will still contain the past
Time goes slow and time goes fast
I can feel you looking back at me
To see how I’ve done
What is it inside you that makes you want me now that I’m gone?

Future of the Future, Everything But the Girl (1999)

sounds like music talking to me; sounds like music talking about 8trk :)

Noteworthy Lyrics: Lou Rhodes

I can fly . . .
But I want his wings

I can shine even in the darkness . . .
But I crave the light that he brings
Revel in the songs that he sings

My angel Gabriel

I can love . . .
But I need his heart

I am strong even on my own . . .
But from him I never want to part
He’s been there since the very start

My angel Gabriel
My angel Gabriel

iPod Random 8: First Touch Edition

ipod touch
Here’s an irregularly-scheduled feature from my regular blog: A listing of the most recent shuffled-up tracks to play from my new iPod Touch (hence the title of this post), with equally-random lyrical samples included.

Yes, this really is what I was listening to earlier today, while heading home after the workday. In the past, I used to do a Random 10, then a Random 5. Then 8trk came along, and well, I just had to go with the numeric flow, right?

It’s no Favorite 8. But hopefully the wild eclectic-ness will give everyone something to talk about.

1. “I Wanna Be Sedated”, The Ramones - Just put me in a wheelchair, get me to the show.

2. “Head Like A Hole”, Nine Inch Nails - Let’s go dancing on the backs of the bruised.

3. “Rapper’s Delight”, Sugar Hill Gang - Now what you hear is not a test.

4. “Super Disco Breakin’”, Beastie Boys - Nothing sounds quite like an eight-oh-eight.

5. “You’re No Rock ‘N Roll Fun”, Sleater-Kinney - Fill our Christmas socks with whiskey drinks and chocolate bars.

6. “Mer Du Japon (Remix By The Teenagers)”, AIR - J’en perds la raison (I lost my mind).

7. “My Fair Lady”, David Byrne - Calls to me a strange attraction.

8. “Heart of Hearts (Radio Edit)”, !!! - Talking ’bout real love baby.

Noteworthy Lyrics: Troy Donald Jamerson

7 years later it’s the year of the God’s
United State’s government is just a facade

The Catholic church got ties with the mob
. . . I see it all like the wizard of Oz

It’s a yellow brick road to fame, riches and cars
And if you only had a brain you would know who you are

Poison your ventilation; cut your education
Secret information; world domination

Take over reservation; trigger the agents in the ocean
So tsunamis can control the population

Eyes to the sky; hidden observation
If you over-seek you find and if you weigh your meditation

Welcome to the Terrodome, Pharoahe Monch (2007)
