“According to SEVERAL . . . Def Jam sources, all hell is breaking loose on Ludacris DTP imprint. Apparently when the label brought all their R&B artists to perform at Spotlight for LA Reid, along with a bunch of industry heads in NYC earlier this week, the feedback was less then thrilling. The performances were SOHH lackluster that a source told me that LA told Luda that he can take his acts and ‘hit the road’.” [SOHH]
I ordinarily don’t post this kind of thing, but I find it fascinating since I was at Spotlight Live that night and watched LA Reid leave out before Bobby V even hit the stage. The performance was all but great. Stefhan Jones was a poor impression of Chris Brown without the moves to back it up. Shareefa was actually good enough that I considered (but didn’t do) looking for her album. And Booby V . . . well . . . it was his birthday so I’ll cut him some slack. Luckily, Marsha (from Floetry) was in the building and got up on stage to do a song. She was awesome! Otherwise, the night wasn’t much worth the cab fare we spent to get to Times Square.
So . . . I say all of that to say that this rumor may have some weight behind it. I guess we will see where this goes.
Your thoughts?
