According to the NY Daily News, rappers Jay-Z and Nas may be dropping a collaborative LP in the near future:
Rumors continue to swirl about Jay-Z’s still-unconfirmed new record label, Carter Music Group. We hear that Jay is partnering with rapper Nas on an album of duets, “The Kings of Hip Hop,” to be released on the label early next year. Jay’s rep is keeping tight-lipped.
At the risk of reveling my bias . . . I think its a bad idea! Hip-hop collabos have not exactly faired well with fans and even though we all loved him and R.Kelly, most of us forgot about it rather quickly and probably never think to include the two albums they did together in either of their discographies. So, as much as having two rap giants do a whole album together sounds good in theory, my sense is that it will feel like the NBA All-Star game: lots of talent but mostly boring.
What do you think?

Ummm . . . didn’t Will.i.am just use this beat (I’m talking what . . . 4 months ago [song: I Can’t Wait] ). I know that hip hop culture is “rip” hop culture but dammit . . . at least try to fool the people!
Oh yea . . . what do you think of the song/video otherwise?

Two of urban music’s biggest entities, Jay-Z and Mary J. Blige, are set to join forces for a 3 month North American tour. Billed as the ‘Heart of the City‘ tour, Jay and Mary will kick off the 26-show arena trek on March 22nd in Miami and wrap up in May. Both artists latest efforts, ‘American Gangster’ and ‘Growing Pains’ respectively, are certified Platinum - after only a few months on sale.
Jay said in a statement: ‘The (songs) we’re playing are the soundtracks to people’s lives. We’ve poured our hearts out many a night in the studio and look forward to going one step further on stage.‘ [Source]
This is huge and also a solid indication of tour revenue will continue to rise to offset music sales. What do you think?
