The idea of me writing a post about Brittney Spears makes me feel like I’m gonna have to take a shower when I finish this. But, I do it for the music.
Brittney’s forthcoming album has a hard hill to climb as she has to get out of the long forgotten pop music vein that she rode to the top and distracts us all from the terrible parenting woes we can’t help but to hear about.
- Joel Kurtzman and Glenn Rifkin, Startups That Work (2005)
Over the past month as we’ve decided to build a business around this “cool” idea, one word has echoed in my mind: execution. Today, I am adding speed to that list. Speed is important because as a startup, you need feedback early and often. The only way to get that is to get to the market.
Its easy to get misguided about the need to develop a quality product. But the evidence is overwhelmingly supportive of a need for speed.
Now that most of the songs off of Kanye’s upcoming “Graduation” album have been released or leaked, I gave a listen to a few tracks and there is one song that jumped out at me so far. “Big Brother“, a track clearly speaking to and about his rap mentor Jay-Z, has some pretty vivid descriptions of Kanye’s feelings and expereinces with Jay. Although they seemed a little whinny at first, I picked out a few lines that I think are worth posting:
In celebration of Michael Jackson’s 49th birthday yesterday, let’s take a moment to remember why, even in all his weirdness, you gotta love mike. Happy Birthday Mike - you’re still the king of pop in my book.
I hope the last list did you well since you had to wait long for this one. It may seem a little mixed up to some of you but these are good, good songs and I hope you find them and check them out. Tell me what you think and/or let me know what you’ve been listening to over the past few weeks.
