This week swung in a completely different direction from last week - more ballads. However, just when I thought I narrowed down my favorites for the week, I ran across an awesome album that took a song I heard only once and moved it right to the top of my list. I’m not one for excessive repeats, but I’m closing in on 15 plays for my number one song. Have fun.

According to Billboard.com, there’s quite a bit more rock than rap on Kid Rock’s upcoming album, Rock’n'Roll Jesus. Recorded at the Clarkston Chophouse studio on his home property in Michigan, the record is said to have a broad stylistic swath, from metallic headbangers like first single “So Hot” and “Sugar” (the set’s only rap track) to such rootsy, gospel-hued fare as “Amen” (”The best song I’ve ever written,” Rock tells Billboard) and “When You Love Someone.”

As we get closer and closer to launch, the 8trk team has had less time to contribute interesting post to the blog. We see that we have some regular readership and we want to maintain and satisfy those readers. As a result, we are looking for contributors for the blog. If you have an interesting story about music or a musician, a comment, an album review and song or video of your own to stream, leave a comment to this post and make sure you leave an email address (in the field box, not in the comment). The win-win: we gather more interesting content faster and you get exposure to our readership that reached almost 3000 visitors in one day last week.

We are pleased to announce that the wait will soon be over. After months of working on function, design, concept, business components and legal concerns, 8trk.com will finally be allowing a small group of 100 users to test the site in mid-to-late September. Seats will go on a first come, first served basis. Stay tuned to the blog for how and when to sign up.

More like All OF “Once” - as in how they are dragging out music singles from their one and only album. The Fray is set to release “All At Once” as the fourth single from their debut album.
How To Save A Life is a really good album. However, its been two years and they are still pushing out singles for the same album. Comon’ guys! We want something fresh . . . at least I do. The real test for me is always if an artist/group has a breakout debut, can they follow it up with some consistency to show it wasn’t a fluke. And, the rule of thumb is, the longer we have to wait for it, the more critical we are gonna be. Any thoughts?
